Following your Dreams......

For almost as long as I can remember I have loved goats. Growing up in a family that loved horses, my passion made me a bit of a black sheep. It was my first goat Katie a Sannen type mutt my grandma bought from the auction that showed me how kind, curious and amazing that goats could be. Since her I have been absolutely infatuated with goats, showing, breeding, raising, their health, maintenance supplements and the like. I use this platform to educate other goat lovers, and to help them not make the same mistakes that I have. I think it is truly amazing that even after owning and caring for goats for 20 years I still come across new articles that are enlightening about goats and their care. I think one of the major reasons for this is that goats are a minor livestock species. There are not a lot of products that have research performed on them

for goats, as there is not a ton of money in them and to top it off there are not many well educated, well rounded goat vets out there. Most of the knowledge that exists in the goat industry is colloquial and passed down from farmer to farmer.

The point that I am trying to get at, is I have always dreamed about being able to make a living just with our goats, but I had never been able to settle on what path I want to take in order to make this dream a reality. I am too soft and love my goats far too much to raise them for meat and I make too many decisions with my heart instead of my head to have a dairy of any sorts. This has meant that I raise goats for pleasure, milk and show, but never to make a profit. As I have gotten older I have come to realize how short life is and how I want to spend my days growing something for myself, my family and to leave a legacy that improves the lives of goats and those that love them. This is why I have started working to write my blog, make goats milk fudge and I have written my children's book about goats. It is my attempt to make myself financially independent and focus on growing what I love. I hope that I can encourage you to follow your dreams and never give up on what you want your life to be. Happy Goating!!
